The draw for the new-look opening group stage of the Mitre Brooks Mileson Memorial League Cup was made today.
This season, the initial stage sees the league’s 40 teams divided into eight groups of five, and each team will play the other once.
Two games will be at home, and two away, and the top two from each group will progress to the last 16, where the competition reverts to a knockout basis.
Each team was seeded according to where they finished in the league last season, so Consett, who finished 4th, were among the eight top seeds.
We have been drawn against fellow Division One clubs Newcastle Benfield and Thornaby, and Bedlington Terriers and Brandon United from Division Two. The games have been scheduled as follows:
Tuesday 10 September: Consett v Newcastle Benfield
Tuesday 1 October: Bedlington Terriers v Consett
Tuesday 8 October: Consett v Thornaby
Wednesday 16 October: Brandon United v Consett
