Darren Holden commits himself to Consett by signing long-term contract

Popular defender Darren Holden has committed himself to Consett AFC by signing a long-term contract.

The left-back signed in summer 2018, two days before the season began. He made his debut as a sub v Guisborough in the opening game of last season, and made an immediate impact with the assist for our winning goal.

He saw off the challenge of Clark Kay and Jordan Lavery to establish himself as first-choice No 3, and quickly became a fans’ favourite with his attack-minded wing play.

He played 44 games last season, scoring twice – including the winner in our  1-0 victory at Newton Aycliffe in October.

An ex-pro, Darren played 58 league games over four seasons for Hartlepool United.

He also played in the National League for Gateshead and Guiseley and the Evo-Stik League for South Shields, as well as having brief spells at Jarrow Roofing, West Auckland and Ross County.
