Consett will face Deal Town in FA Vase 5th Round after the Kent side won a dramatic penalty shootout in replay

Consett will be at home to Deal Town from Kent in the FA Vase 5th Round after they won a dramatic penalty shootout in their replay today against Binfield.

The sides drew 1-1 at Deal last week, and Binfield, who are 3rd in the Uhlsport Hellenic Premier League, were favourites to go through in today’s replay at their Hill Farm Lane ground in Bracknell.

They took the lead twice, but Deal, who are mid-table in the Southern Counties East League Premier Division, equalised twice to take the game to extra time.

It was Deal’s turn to take the lead, but this time the home side managed to level to make the final score 3-3, and take the game to penalties.

And it was the visitors who emerged triumphant, with their goalkeeper James Tonkin scoring the winning kick to give them a 7-6 shootout victory.

Now Deal Town, who won the FA Vase at Wembley back in 2000, will travel to Belle View Stadium in the 5th Round on Saturday, February 8, kick-off 3pm.
