Consett’s opening league game at Ryhope CW is OFF on league advice due to Covid-19 infection risk

Consett were due to kick-off their Northern League campaign on Tuesday night with a game at Ryhope CW – but the game is OFF.

We were due to travel to Ryhope Recreation Park for a quick rematch with the side we knocked out of the FA Cup last week.

However, the league has advised that the game be postponed as a precautionary measure after the Ryhope players were in contact with someone whose wife had tested positive for coronavirus.

The person in question is awaiting the result of a test, but the league decided it’s better to be safe than sorry, particularly after a big rise in cases in the Sunderland area in recent days.

Our next game will now be the home FA Cup tie against Northern Premier league side Ossett United on Saturday.

We will now start our league campaign with a visit to Seaham Red Star next Tuesday 15 September, KO 7.30pm. Admission details will be available as soon as we have them.
