FA Youth Cup: Get behind Consett youngsters as they take on South Shields in national competition

The first team might have been left kicking their heels this midweek, but there is a match at Belle View on Thursday 10 September to satisfy your football fix.

Consett – represented for the second year in a row by Gavin Scott’s Consett U18s Bulls – play South Shields in the Preliminary Round of the FA Youth Cup.

The young Mariners went on a record-breaking run to the 3rd Round proper last season, before losing to a highly-rated Fulham U18s side.

Along the way they beat Gateshead, Carlisle United, North Shields, Harrogate Town, Morecambe and Hartlepool United.

Kick-off for the Youth Cup tie is 7.30pm, and admission is £2 for adults and £1 for concessions at the turnstiles. The clubhouse and snack bar will be open.

The prize for the winners is an away tie at North Shields in the 1st Round Qualifying in two weeks’ time.
