Whickham up next as Consett look to bounce back from cup exit – and it’s a sell-out

Consett return to Northern League action tomorrow night when they host Whickham in a Division One game at Belle View Stadium.

The small number of tickets which were made available for the game this morning have been snapped up, so it is again a sell-out due to our reduced capacity of 150.

The clash with the Highwaymen is our local derby this season, and they will arrive on a high, having won 2-1 at Ryhope CW at the weekend.

As usual, there are several connections between the clubs, with former Steelmen Dale Burrell and Lewis Gibbons in the visiting squad, and the evergreen Steve Bowey as their player-assistant manager.

Consett fans will be hoping for a repeat of last season’s encounter, which ended in a 5-0 win for the home side, with Calvin Smith, pictured in action above, among the scorers.

Kick-off is 7.30pm, and our usual anti-coronavirus protocols will be in place, including temperature checks and track and trace.
