Consett AFC are delighted to announce that talented young midfielder Dan Marriott has put pen to paper on a contract with the club.
The 20-year-old, whose goal at Histon clinched promotion to the Northern Premier League, is a local lad and a fans’ favourite.
After coming up through the ranks of Consett Juniors, he joined Esh Winning as a teenager to gain experience of Northern League football.
Rejoining Consett in January 2020, he made his first team debut in September that year as a sub v Newcastle Benfield, and got his first start at Birtley Town in the Durham Challenge Cup in April 2021.
An unused sub in our FA Vase final at Wembley, last season saw him make fine progress, starting 12 games, featuring as a substitute in 23 more, and contributing three goals, including the vital second in the play-off.
Chairman Frank Bell said: “As a local lad, and a product of our junior set-up, Dan really is one of our own. He came on in leaps and bounds last season, and wrote his place in club history with the goal that won us promotion. Hopefully there’s many more to come.
Dan is the third player to agree contract terms with the club this week, after Zak Atkinson on Tuesday and Dan Capewell yesterday.
