Consett unveil seven-game schedule of pre-season fixtures

Consett AFC can today reveal their pre-season schedule ahead of the 2023-24 Northern Premier League season.

The Steelmen have confirmed seven games so far – five at home and two away – with one date still to be filled.

They begin their preparations with a home game on Friday 7 July against Boro Rangers, who were Northern League 2nd Division champions last season.

That’s followed by an away game on Tuesday 11 July at Shildon, who are back in the Northern League after being relegated from the NPL.

On Saturday 15 July they will host Kashmir FA, a UK-based team who represent the Indian-Pakistiani-Chinese territory.

Three days later it’s the turn of former Northern League rivals Newcastle Benfield to visit Belle View, while on Saturday 22 July Tony Fawcett’s team will entertain former FA Cup and FA Vase opponents Silsden, from the Northern Counties East League Premier Division.

On Tuesday 25 July the Steelmen make the short trip to Ironworks Road to face our old friends Tow Law Town.

Saturday 29 July is available at the moment, as several leagues kick off their season proper that day. Any clubs interested in a friendly should contact chairman Frank Bell.

Finally, pre-season concludes with the visit of our old friends Morpeth Town to Belle View on Friday 4 August.

They play in the NPL Premier Division, and won the Northumberland Senior Cup last season, so it should be a good test to round off our friendlies.

Northern Premier League fixtures for the 2023-24 season will be announced at a later date.
