Consett are handed awaydays in the FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Youth Cup

Consett will be on their travels in both the FA Cup and FA Trophy after the draws for the early rounds of both competitions were made by The FA today.

The Steelmen will begin their season with an Extra Preliminary Round tie in the FA Cup at Kendal Town from the North West Counties League Premier Division on Saturday, 5 August.

The tie means the scheduled home friendly v Morpeth Town the previous evening will be cancelled.

Consett and Kendal have met once before, in the FA Cup Preliminary Round back in 2001-02, when the Steelmen were beaten 4-0 in Cumbria.

Should we come through this tie, our reward will be another away draw in the Preliminary Round, at either Boro Rangers or Penrith, both from the Northern League.

In the FA Trophy we enter unchartered territory with an away tie and first-ever meeting with Bootle FC from the Northern Premier League Division One West on Saturday 9 September.

The winners will progress to an away tie against NPL Division One East rivals Stockton Town or Pontefract Collieries.

Travel arrangements for both cup games will be announced nearer the date.

Consett have also been drawn away from home in the Extra Preliminary Round of the FA Youth Cup, to Sunderland RCA, with the match due to take place in the week commencing Monday 14 August. The winners will travel to Carlisle City in the Peliminary Round.
