Consett were today drawn to play Spennymoor Town in the 1st Round of the Frank Pattison Durham Challenge Cup.
It will be the clubs’ first competitive meeting since 2013-14, when Moors won the Northern League title for the fourth time in five years and were promoted.
They are now in the National League North, two divisions above Consett in the non-league pyramid.
The game must be played in the week preceding Saturday 14 October, which means it will probably be at Belle View Stadium on Tuesday 10 October, with a 7.45pm kick-off, though this is subject to confirmation.
Spennymoor have only played one competitive game at Belle View – the ground’s very first one way back in November 2013, when goals from Luke Sullivan and Michael Mackay gave us a 2-1 win in the Northern League Division One.
The clubs have never met in the Durham Challenge Cup, though we racked up a dozen meetings in the competition against Moors’ predecessors Spennymoor United, including two finals.
