Consett drawn away to West Auckland in Durham Challenge Cup quarter-final – DATE AGREED

Consett have been drawn away to former Northern League rivals West Auckland Town in the quarter-finals of the Durham Challenge Cup.

The game will take place at the Wanted Stadium in the week preceding Saturday 16 December.

West reached the last eight on Tuesday night by beating Birtley Town on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

They had previously beaten Seaham Red Star on penalties in the 1st Round after a 1-1 draw, and Durham Corinthians 2-1 in the Preliminary Round.

Consett and West Auckland have had 10 post-war meetings in the Durham Challenge Cup, most recently last season in the 1st Round, when we progressed 4-3 on penalties after a 1-1 draw at Belle View.

Our most recent county cup visit to Darlington Road was in the 2nd Round in 2011-12, when we won 3-2 at Darlington Road thanks to a hat-trick from Harrison Davies.

One notable name in the Consett line-up that night was a 17-year-old Matty Slocombe, who was making his debut for the club.

UPDATE: The game will take place on Tuesday 12 December, with a 7.30pm kick-off.
